Welcome to the website for the Gracie Theatre at Husson University. Our beautiful new 500-seat theatre completed in October of 2009 is Husson's center for the fine and performing arts. Gracie also serves as a learning platform for students from the New England School of Communications in digital audio, sound mixing, set design and construction, lighting, acting and electronics.

A Message from the Managing Director

Dear friends of The Gracie Theatre,

In May 2011, I was named Managing Director of the Gracie Theatre. It is an exciting task that will both challenge and reward me daily.  Since my arrival,  we have feature talented performers includingl Portland-based comedian Juston McKinney, a Legends of Las Vegas Show, widely recognized R & B singer Francine Reed,  Biscuit Miller and the Mix, plus a  Ballet showcasing Balanchine choreographer. .. and  that was only the fall line up!   This year will be even more event-filled starting out with the popular AZTEC TWO-STEP February 3rd and International Opera Star Richard Troxell who will put together a lovely evening of Aria and Song February 16th. Both shows are at 7:00 pm. and will help cure the wintertime blues!

 The spring brings with it our first piano recital featuring the  young Russian virtuoso Daria Rabotkina Sunday, March 18 followed by a concert by Katie Arminger,  a country pop singer straight out of Nashville, she is sensational.  That's not all:  April 20th brings our first National touring show:   a smash hit Musical called "Broadway's Next H!t Musical"  on tour and landing in the Gracie.  So you can see, things are happening at the Gracie with programming to suit many tastes an styles.

New to the Gracie itself is  a fabulous display of 2 art exhibits in the "Gracie Galleries" which lead into the theatre's orchestra and balcony level.  Artists Rob Martz and Jonathan Bright have exhibited paintings and photographs respectively for viewing and purchase. They have added so much to the theatre and I am excited to feature more artists in the gallery next fall. 

As always, I want to thank  Hilda Hutchins McCollum and the Husson staff for putting their trust in my ability to steer the Gracie towards the vibrant arts center that it can be.  Please join me in my task of growing the Gracie  by supporting the theatre's events.  

 It's going to be a fabulous journey.

Step Afrika - March 14, 2012, 8:00 pm.

Daria Rabotkina - March 18, 2012, 2:00 pm.  A virtuoso Solo Pianist and winner of the 2007 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, Daria will perform an afternoon of classical piano featuring Bach, Schumann and Prokofiev.  Tickets for this  Gracie Piano concert event are $15.00.
